You may have read my series of blogs last year where I talked about Epilepsy. I wrote these blogs in the hope that I could raise some awareness on the condition itself and of the brilliant work carried out by the UK charity Epilepsy Action.
One of my earlier blogs talked about the types of Epilepsy and further information on can be found in the Advice and Information References section of the Epilepsy Action website.
Epilepsy Action Helpline
The Epilepsy Action website (www.epilepsy.org.uk) contains extensive information about Epilepsy ranging from support and treatment available for individuals through to advice for carers and more.
The Epilepsy Action Helpline also provides much needed help and support – allowing individuals to ask any specific questions and talk through their individual circumstances. You can call the Epilepsy Action helpline on 0808 800 5050 for free from a UK landline or mobile. Currently the helpline is open Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5.30pm. This year donations from Purple Day activities will be used to extend the opening hours of Epilepsy Action Helpline.
That’s why on 26 March 2018 I will again be wearing purple and asking my colleagues, friends and family to do the same, so that Epilepsy Action can provide support to those who need it during evenings and weekends.
How you can help?
You could look to arrange your own Purple Day fundraiser to raise money for Epilepsy Action. As part of Purple Day, I will be asking my colleagues to take part in a quiz (which may or may not be easier than last years 😉) and I will donning an apron and selling cakes. Small fundraising initiatives can make a big difference and any funds will be gratefully received by Epilepsy Action.
Or you could donate money to this extremely worthy cause in one of the following ways:
- Call 0113 210 8851
- Text ‘ACT’ to 70700 to donate £5*
- Buy a wristband from the Epilepsy Action shop
- Leave a gift in your will, my colleague Samantha Ibrahim is an expert in Wills and Probate and can offer you advice on this. Samantha can be contacted on 01246 266637
I can’t wait to get my purple on and have fun raising much needed funds for such a worthy cause. Be sure to put Purple Day in your diaries and check back after 26 March 2018 to see how we, here at Spencers Solicitors, get on.
* Terms UK only. Texts cost £5 plus your standard network charge. Epilepsy Action will receive 100% of the donation.
