Every year the national brain injury charity Headway UK holds “Hats of for Headway” during Action for Brain Injury (ABI) week. Due to the coronavirus outbreak, ABI week has been postponed, but Headway are still going ahead with an appropriate “Hats for Headway at Home” version, that anyone can take part in from the safety of their own homes and sharing on social media.
You can help support Headway by Texting HFHW to 70085 to donate £2.00
Texts cost £2 plus one standard rate message and you’ll be opting in to hear more about our work and fundraising via telephone. If you’d like to give £2 but do not wish to receive marketing communications, text HFHWNOINFO to 70085. Visit www.headway.org for more details
During this event, which takes place on the 15th May, supporters will be asked to make or wear a wacky hat and donate to help Headway continue to provide vital services to those affected by the devastating effects of brain injury.
The Coronavirus pandemic has left many vulnerable head injury survivors isolated and struggling to cope with the problems which come with suffering a brain injury, meaning that the fantastic work that Headway do is needed more than ever.
Spencers have had close ties with the local Headway North Derbyshire branch and for many years have enjoyed hosting a Hats for Headway bake sale event in our offices in Chesterfield. As we are unable to host the event this year, we are asking our staff to support Hats for Headway day by wearing their crazy hats and donating from the safety of their homes in order to raise money for this fantastic charity.
There are also prizes up for grabs from Headway UK. Simply share a selfie on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram using #HatsforHeadway to enter.
There will be a prize for the wackiest hat. This is Lynn, our HR Manager who won the coveted title at our Hats for Headway event last year along with Rob Landman, our Managing Director.
Head injury can be a subtle foe resulting in people and their families struggling to cope with extra demands thrown at them but with the right support and treatment, life can be easier and more enjoyable.
Headway UK has a very helpful and informative website which is packed with information for anyone affected by brain injury.
